As we prepare for the third YSK National Science and Technology Exhibition planned for the 10th – 14th August 2020 at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), YSK will once again be conducting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) outreach activities in all 47 counties, supported by Universities and TVETs, for a sustained nationwide rollout in 2020.
This year’s launch will take place in Kiambu County and will mark the start of a 17-week nationwide outreach programme that will continue until June 2020. Over 100,000 secondary school students will be reached during the outreach programme.
During the outreach programmes in each county, students will students are exposed to live STEM demos, and encouraged to take up STEM careers by a team of STEM mentors from academia and private-sector. They also receive career guidance and counselling, and participate in inquiry-based learning experiences through live chemistry, biology, physics, coding, robotics, virtual reality and augmented reality demonstrations.
