STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The YSK STEM Outreach Programme is an indigenous independent programme developed by YSK to add value to the YSK Exhibition. A key component of YSK, it develops a much-needed Science Culture and capacity among young students and teachers in Kenya.
Through our outreach activities, students are exposed to different science experiences, mentorship, career guidance and counselling and creating inquiry-based experiences that transform learning.

The Outreach programme enhances the Kenyan government’s plan of the new curriculum, laying the foundations at secondary school level for further education and training at the tertiary level and the world of work. Opportunities must exist at lower secondary level to explore student’s own potential, interests and personalities to be ready to begin the specialization available in senior school that leads towards the career path of choice.

In 2020, YSK responded to the Covid-19 pandemic by piloting a virtual outreach program. This year (2021) we will continue with virtual outreaches to ensure students across the nation benefit despite the Covid-19 imposed restrictions.
